AiDASH introduces enhanced hazard tree management

AiDASH

To help vegetation managers identify and surgically remove the most dangerous trees on their network, we’re proud to roll out a new enhanced Hazard Tree Management (HTM) module within IVMS 3.0. IEEE surveys and NERC reports have observed that after major hurricanes or ice storms, utilities often attribute 70%–90% of tree-related damage to hazard trees. Getting in front of the hazard tree problem with dedicated hazard tree identification, inventory, and work planning is what the new HTM is designed to do.

Dedicated Hazard Tree Management (HTM) module

At the heart of IVMS 3.0 is our new Hazard Tree Management module. The dedicated module leverages the power of remote sensing data and AI models to deliver predictive analysis, advanced visualizations, and digital workflows for identifying and surgically removing the most dangerous trees on your network. These deep, data-driven insights into hazard tree risk revolutionize how utilities manage hazard trees by enabling targeted and efficient identification, prioritization, and removal.

Key improvements:

  • Hazard tree hotspot prediction leveraging identification of unhealthy trees with key metrics and map visualizations to enable targeted, surgical inspections in the most high-risk parts of the network.
  • Centralized, real-time inventory of hazard trees with critical data to enable efficient prioritization and mitigation activities.
  • Digital workflows for mitigation ensure seamless coordination between field crews and supervisors across both IVMS web and mobile applications.

Key features:

  • Hotspot analysis—Review and prioritize segments for assessment. The HT Hotspots enables users to locate Hazard Tree Hotspots across the network with precision by visualizing hotspots on the map; identifying hotspots, unhealthy and striking trees, reported trees, and more with contextual map layers; viewing hotspots at individual segments or grouped at the circuit level; and creating assessment tasks at the circuit or segment level.
  • Optimized task management—Create and manage network assessment tasks. The HTM – Execute feature provides users the ability to create and manage the entire lifecycle of assessment tasks from both the web and mobile apps.
  • Comprehensive inventory—Track and mitigate hazard trees logged in IVMS. The HT Inventory tab helps gain full visibility into all hazard trees logged from other vegetation management programs, such as Ad Hoc Work Management, within IVMS and complete key metrics to provide data-driven insights.
  • Enhanced map layers with intuitive visual indicators. Users can quickly gain deeper insights with the map layers that offer clearer, more contextualized hazard tree data.
  • Improved logs and filters. The logs and filters have been enhanced throughout the module to help users take data-driven decisions faster, ensuring a more structured and efficient workflow.

Key benefits:

  • Optimized hazard tree budgeting: With more predictable insight into the status of hazard tree inventories and network risks, utilities can be more precise when budgeting for hazard tree management.
  • Better prioritization: In addition to more precise budgeting, utilities can also more effectively allocate resources to the areas where hazard trees pose the greatest risk.
  • Improved reliability: Taking care of the most dangerous trees on the network means mitigated outage risk and increasing likelihood of better network reliability.

Always evolving

This new Hazard Tree Module is a part of our dedication to evolution. By combining advanced AI, remote sensing, and seamless digital workflows, it empowers utilities to continue their transformation from reactive vegetation management to a proactive, precision-driven approach.

With the stakes higher than ever, utilities need tools that deliver clarity, efficiency, and impact. IVMS rises to that challenge—redefining how hazard trees are managed and laying the groundwork for a more resilient, reliable grid. The future of vegetation management is here.
