Kathleen Fillier

Environment Analyst, Newfoundland Power

Kathleen is an Environmental Analyst at Newfoundland Power, where she has been a vital member of the Environment and Sustainability department since 2021. In this role, Kathleen has built a robust portfolio encompassing environmental stewardship, species at risk, biodiversity, climate change adaptation and mitigation, ISO 14001 system management, and GIS technology.

She leads the Environmental Assessment process for capital projects and operations across Newfoundland’s island portion, demonstrating her expertise in navigating the complex and evolving environmental regulatory landscape. Kathleen has played a key role in developing guidelines and industry best practices and has provided consulting on Species at Risk Management and the Canadian Fisheries Act.

In just three years, Kathleen has successfully integrated climate change resilience and risk assessment into project planning, driving innovation and fostering collaborative learning. Her efforts to blend technology with environmental stewardship were recently recognized when her team received the Energy Newfoundland & Labrador Innovation in Environmental Sustainability award.
